Industrial Sculpture by Pierre Malbec
The Artist Pierre Malbec lives and works in the south of France. His paintings and sculptures are informed by the rigours of Industry and works of Architectural integrity, but softened by the by the gentle colours of nature. He cites Rothko as one of his inspirations, an influence which can be seen in his paintings, but also the works of Mondrian, Brancusi and Constructivist Art.
This Sculptural work is at once bold and gentle and symbolises the harmony between strength and fragility (as seen in the juxtaposition of the visual weight of the piece in proportion to that of the supporting base), and man both overcoming and being overcome by nature.
